Collect for the Third Sunday of Advent

Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might come among us; and, because we are sorely hindered by our sins, let your bountiful grace and mercy speedily help and deliver us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

Hello, Penny! I haven't commented here for a while (though I visit often) but wanted to say thank you, especially for this post. Something about the connection between the prayer and the picture really touched my heart: the beautiful freedom of the birds as a sign of the mercy we long for to free us from the sins which 'sorely hinder' us and keep us earthbound. Advent blessings to you!
Hi Antonia - good to hear from you. I'm glad you liked this pairing. These are tundra swans, which are overwintering on the Virginia coast. I took a long hike into the refuge on Friday to see them. I am always amazed that these birds fly so far every year - they are certainly not earthbound! Advent blessings!
