Saturday Music Concert

The final concert of the Jeffrey Cox Quintet on August 18, 2013 at The Velvet Note in Alpharetta, GA.

Jeffrey Cox, trumpet
Morgan Guerin, saxophone
Jordan Holiman, drums
Andres Rovira, piano
Andrew Sommer, bass

Guest Trumpet: Dr Gordon Vernick (Jeffrey's teacher for the last several years)

Thanks to Luis Rovira for recording and posting the video to YouTube.

And if you only have time for one song, skip to the last one, at 2:42:32 to hear their version of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. There's a long story behind that one.

Enjoy!

Nice concert. Well worth a listen. I liked all of the tunes, but it would be interesting sometimes to hear the long story about the last one.
Thanks, Bill. The short version is that Jeffrey was born not long after Kurt Cobain of Nirvana died, and we used to think that Jeffrey was Cobain reincarnated. This was back in his garage band/guitar and keyboards days. And this song was kind of the anthem for Cobain and the grunge scene. So Jeff was having a little fun with us all doing a version of Teen Spirit as a now professional jazzman.
