Collect for the Fifth Sunday of Lent



Almighty God, you alone can bring into order the unruly wills and affections of sinners: Grant your people grace to love what you command and desire what you promise; that, among the swift and varied changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Lovely shot. Thanks for doing these. Pros need a place to stop and contemplate God’s mystery. It’s tough, exploring words and feelings we don’t, can’t ever fully understand. It helps to take refuge in the heart’s cave. You show the entrance to that safe oasis sometimes.

This bas relief is over the door/under the organ in the chapel at Riverside Church in Manhattan. One of the loveliest sacred spaces I've ever seen.
