Morning Collect: Florence Nightingale

Life-giving God, you alone have power over life and death, over health and sickness: Give power, wisdom, and gentleness to those who follow the lead of Florence Nightingale, that they, bearing with them your presence, may not only heal but bless, and shine as lanterns of hope in the darkest hours of pain and fear; through Jesus Christ, the healer of body and soul, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

Is this a God moment that you put this in twice?
God must know that I need to read it twice...I hope I am being a good nurse to my husband after his surgery. Just wondering... where does this come from? Thanks for this, Penny.

Hmm, Kay, thanks for letting me know - I have no idea how it got posted twice. Maybe you did need to read it twice.
Hope Richard continues to recover well. Continued prayers for nurse and patient.
I work as a cardiac nurse at a large teaching hospital - I didn't know this was Florence Nightingale's day on the calendar of saints! What's more amazing is that although today was quite busy, I saw more cooperation across disciplines, there was eager and helpful teamwork in all of my dealings. It was a good day for patient care. Thanks for letting me know that there were also special prayers going up this day while I was on the front-lines of healthcare!
Well, Charles, there you go. The Spirit of Florence in the hospital halls. Glad it was a good day - I'm sure your work is very intense.
