Saturday Morning Collect

Our Diocese is about to begin the process of electing a new bishop.  Please keep us in prayer as we move through this process toward the election, which will take place on June 2, 2012.  The nominating committee has announced that it will accept applications from the end of August through mid-October 2011.  Here is the BCP prayer for the election of a bishop:

Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a bishop for the Diocese of Atlanta, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Penny, I added the Diocese of Atlanta to the prayer for the election of a bishop, which has a permanent place on my sidebar.

PS: I believe Bp. Saul may have been one of the co-consecraters for my Bp. Thompson.
Thanks, Mimi! Bp Sauls was elected Bishop of Lexington (KY) after serving as a priest in this Diocese. Now his diocese will begin the process of electing a new bishop, too, as he heads off to work for the Presiding Bishop.

Our bishop, Neil Alexander, will be headed back to academia, serving as the Professor of the Practice of Liturgy and Director of the Anglican Studies Program at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University (wow, that's a mouthful!) - my seminary - here in Atlanta.

Pardon, my mistake, Penny. I was checking out the Diocese of Lexington at the same time to add them to my prayer, and I got the two confused. I hadn't had my tea.
Easy enough to do - especially since Bishop Sauls was from here! There are going to be a number of bishop elections in the next year!
