Morning Collect

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is
hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where
there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where
there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where
there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to
be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is
in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we
are born to eternal life. Amen.

Penny,
Thank you for reminding me of this movie and for your thoughtful views about it. I wish I could remember the quote that somehow goes along the lines of "Many people worship Jesus but few follow him"...somehow, there is something involved in a hind leg in that quote...could be getting it mixed it up with something else.Yesterday, my husband ane I visited the monastery and attended the 5:15 service. It occurred to me that anyone looking at the monks will know that they are working for God...could anyone say the same for me?
I envy your proximity to the monastery. I still have never been, believe it or not. Some day I will just put it on the calendar.
