Morning Collect for Thursday after Ash Wednesday

Holy God,
you stretched out a mighty arm
again and again to save your people:
shield us from the temptation
to rely on our own strength,
our own arms
and to shun the arms of others.

How might we journey
into your generous heart
and away from our own hardheartedness?

This is my prayer:
Be our sanctuary
in this time
of giving up our striving
as we walk again the path of Lent.
