Morning Prayer for the Aged

Look with mercy, O God our Father, on all whose increasing years bring the weakness, distress, or isolation.  Provide for them homes of dignity and peace; give them understanding helpers, and the willingness to accept help; and, as their strength diminishes, increase their faith and their assurance of your love.  This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

A thoughtful prayer..I lead a service every Thursday evening within a Residential Complex. Within that 3 years I have seen 4 wardens come and go and this leaves the folks so unsettled. I like the line..as their strength diminishes, increase their faith and their assurance of your love.. that indeed is my prayer, whilst 'human' carers come and go - our Heavenly Father is and has always been their constant friend, guide and support. My mom lives in a retirement complex and while the staff for the most part has been stable, even small changes in schedules or dinner rules etc can be upsetting to some of her friends.

A prayer that means a lot, and I would add a word for all those who are frightened by the prospects of what the future holds. Every Blessing
